Past Pitches

Lifted mask mandates and the Dallas music scene (Dallas Observer)

What does the lifting of capacity restrictions and mask mandates mean for the Dallas music scene?

I would talk to a couple of artists who are. considering doing shows again. I'd take an angle of transitioning from either no shows or virtual shows back to in person shows and how that would look.

Twitter ERCOT reactions (KSAT)

Following the Energy and Reliability Council of Texas' request for residents to turn their thermostats up to "conserve energy" and avoid rolling outages. Twitter is heated and expressing frustration through memes. This could be a social articleshowing the best reactions to the ERCOT announcement.

ENGAGE (Denton Record Chronicle Transformers Series)

Evans is the lead coordinator of ENGAGE at UNT. IT is a program that helps students with autism/on the spectrum with keeping up with their classes and preparation to enter the workforce after graduation. Since the pandemic, she has had to transition to mostly online appointments and has been helping students adjust to primarily online classes and navigating them. I would focus on the work she has been doing leading up to this fall semester helping students on the autism spectrum to adjust to these changes and new difficulties brought on by COVID-19.

Intangible Fiber Art Installation (North Texas Daily)

I was able to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Intangible installation that I wrote about last semester featuring Jackie Lawrence. Instead of just focusing on her this time, I talked to all the featured artists and got more info on the actual exhibit before its opening in April and am writing about it.
